Lincon Riley goes on The Rich Eisen Show to discuss Caleb Williams’ NFL mentality

USC didn’t have a great 2023 season. Is Caleb Williams still the real deal? Lincoln Riley thinks so.

It was “Media Monday” for USC head coach Lincoln Riley. The leader of the Trojan football program performed a series of conversations with high-profile sports talkers. Riley went on The Jim Rome Show and The Pat McAfee Show. He also went on The Rich Eisen Show as well. One of the highlights of his Rich Eisen appearance was an exploration of Caleb Williams’ NFL mentality.

If you followed the 2023 USC football season closely, you know that the pieces of the puzzle didn’t generally fit for Caleb Williams, especially not in the latter half of the season in which the Trojans lost five of their last six games. Most of the problems for USC were on defense, but the offense had its share of struggles. Caleb Williams threw three interceptions at Notre Dame in an ugly loss, but a lot of the problem for Caleb was that USC’s offensive line took a significant step back from 2022. Another problem was that USC’s receivers didn’t get open in 2023 the way they did in 2022 with Jordan Addison destroying opposing secondaries.

People want to know if Caleb Williams is the real deal. Lincoln Riley is convinced he is. The NFL draft occurs in two and a half months. Everyone is waiting to see if the Chicago Bears take Caleb as the top pick in the draft or trade him to another team.

Rich Eisen ‘can’t believe’ Damar Hamlin’s game vs. Colts

Rich Eisen Show ‘can’t believe’ #Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s game vs. #Colts:

Rich Eisen made sure to acknowledge Damar Hamlin’s return to the Bills against the Colts in a special manner this week.

On his show, Eisen named his top five moments of the first week of the preseason, and he wanted to take a segment to discuss Hamlin specifically. Report: Bills want DeAndre Hopkins but ‘are not going to pay’

Report: #Bills want DeAndre Hopkins but ‘are not going to pay’:

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

The Buffalo Bills-DeAndre Hopkins buzz has gone quiet over the past few weeks.

Reports have surfaced that Hopkins is taking his time with making a decision. But since Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane said he would never rule out signing Hopkins in early June, there’s been nothing. At least as far as the Bills are concerned.

Hopkins still hasn’t joined a team, but he has taken free agent visits, reportedly with the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.

There haven’t been any reports of Hopkins visiting with the Bills, and now we might have a reason why. According to ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, the Bills want Hopkins but “are not going to pay” for him.

Top dollar is what Darlington is getting at. It appears the Bills are hoping the pursuit of a Super Bowl title is enough incentive for Hopkins to sign in western New York, but as of now, it’s not.

There’s still plenty of time in the offseason for Hopkins or the Bills to change their mind. Training camp does not start until the end of July, but time is ticking.

The latest report on Hopkins can be found via the clip below from “The Rich Eisen Show”:

WATCH: Rich Eisen questions why Bills, Stefon Diggs still have grudge

The Rich Eisen Show questions why the #Bills and Stefon Diggs still had a grudge.

Rich Eisen still has plenty of questions about the Bills and the team’s relationship with Stefon Diggs.

The wide receiver sat out a minicamp practice last month, and a day later, it was declared that things were back to normal. All fine.

Eisen was skeptical. Can it all really be OK now? And if so, why did it take so long? The season ended months ago, after all.

HC Todd Bowles sat down with Rich Eisen on the Rich Eisen Show on recently, and he had a lot to say about the new players coming to the Bucs roster.

Bowles discussed DT Calijah Kancey, OG Cody Mauch and WR Kade Warner on the show, praising all of them when talking about their skill sets.

He talked about Kancey first, tabbing his speed as a main reason the Bucs picked him. He also mentioned that Kancey is a strong player and plays the position with intelligence.

“He’s a big three-down guy. We were like 320 [average weight] across the board, we felt we needed a little more quickness. He adds that for us,” Bowles said.

Bowles also reiterated that Mauch would play guard for the Bucs to get him “acclimated.”

“He’s a very good athlete, a very intelligent player, and a very hard worker,” Bowles said of Mauch. “We look forward to him getting better and better.”

Finally, he talked about Kade Warner, the son of NFL legend Kurt Warner. Kade came out of Kansas State as a UDFA for the Buccaneers, and Bowles seemed impressed with him so far in camp when asked about him by Eisen.

“Kade is going to make a name for himself,” Bowles said. “He’s very polished — he’s a coach’s kid, so he’s gonna be polished… I like everything that Kade’s done so far. He’s come in and put his head down and got to work.”

Dennis Allen says Saints don’t anticipate ‘any limitations at all’ for Foster Moreau

Dennis Allen said the Saints don’t anticipate ‘any limitations at all’ for Foster Moreau after undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma:

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen shared his insight on a number of topics during an interview on the Rich Eisen Show this week, including his live reaction to news that his team was signing free agent tight end Foster Moreau — who had notably received a shocking cancer diagnosis during a physical with team doctors in March.

Foster has since undergone treatment and signed a three-year contract with the team, and Allen couldn’t be happier for him. When asked for his first comments on the Saints’ new addition, Allen was all smiles.

“He’s doing outstanding,” Allen replied. “Huge shoutout to our medical group, in particular Dr. John Amoss for being able to identify this and making sure we have the proper medical treatment for Foster. I think he’s doing outstanding. And the type of treatment he’s receiving, we don’t anticipate that there’s going to be any limitations at all in terms of his ability to participate and perform, and his ability to recover, and that’s the most important thing.”

Multiple local reports say the Saints could have Moreau on the practice field when veterans report for organized team activities next week, but team doctors may exercise an abundance of caution and limit his participation to make sure he isn’t putting too much stress on his body after undergoing rigorous cancer treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. We’ll see how the plan for him ultimately plays out, but Allen certainly sounds as excited as most fans to have Moreau in New Orleans wearing black and gold.

Dennis Allen says Michael Thomas will be ‘good to go’ for Saints training camp

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said wide receiver Michael Thomas will be ‘good to go’ for training camp during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show:

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen shared a positive update on Michael Thomas during his appearance on the Rich Eisen Show this week, saying that the former All-Pro wide receiver is still on the road to recovery after a series of lower-leg injuries interrupted his career. But everything is on track and progressing as the team expected.

“Right now he’s still going through some of the rehab process,” Allen said. “He had some hardware removed out of that foot that he had surgery on this past season. He’s doing really well. He’s working extremely hard.”

So it doesn’t sound like Thomas will see much action in organized team activities in May and June, which is the case for a couple of players on the mend. The Saints are practicing an abundance of caution with rookie running back Kendre Miller as he works back from a meniscus injury and veteran tight end Foster Moreau while he recovers from lymphoma treatment. Offensive linemen Cesar Ruiz and Trevor Penning have both recently shed walking boots after suffering late-season Lisfranc injuries last year.

But when do the Saints anticipate Thomas will get back on the field?

“Our anticipation is that,” Allen paused, considering his words carefully, “He’ll be limited throughout this offseason. But our anticipation is that when we get to training camp that he’ll be good to go. Now when we get to training camp we’re going to be smart with him, getting him back into football shape.”

Allen commended Thomas for his strong start to the 2022 season, when he caught three touchdown passes in the first two games and ranked among league leaders with 16 receptions for 171 yards and 13 first down conversions through the first three weeks. He says the Saints are eager to get him back to full strength and into the lineup.
