LeSean McCoy joins Tom Brady, signs with Buccaneers

Former Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy signs on with the Bucs, quarterback Tom Brady.

Welp, that’s a tad annoying.

There should be no bad feelings toward former Bills running back LeSean McCoy. During his time with the Bills, he was a fantastic servant for the team and fondly looked on upon his time in Buffalo, even after departing.

But the latest news is a tough one to swallow. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McCoy has signed on with the Buccaneers, joining forces with former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady via a one-year deal he’s signed on Thursday.

The Bills cut the 31-year-old running back at the end of training camp last offseason. From there, he joined his former head coach with the Eagles, Andy Reid, by signing with the Chiefs. While a big admirer of Reid, Shady eventually found himself scratched in the later parts of their season, including the Super Bowl which they won over the 49ers. McCoy only had 465 rushing yards with the Chiefs in 2019, a career-low, but did average 4.6 yards per carry in a crowded backfield.

Speaking for which, along with Brady, he’ll have a packed unit with him in Tampa. McCoy joins the likes of running backs Ronald Jones, Dare Ogunbowale, TJ Logan and rookies Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Raymond Calais with the Bucs.
