The Knicks are good, man. They’re really good. That’s not something most people thought we could feasibly say as recently as a few months ago, but here we are.
No jokes, no tricks, no gimmicks. The Knicks are really freaking good. They’re 33-27 and have the NBA’s longest active winning streak right now at eight games. If the playoffs started today, they’d have homecourt advantage. Julius Randle just won player of the week and looks like a legitimate star.
The Basketball Gods have not shined this brightly not the Knicks since they granted the team a one-week reprieve from their cursed with Linsanity.
This is an awesome thing. The Knicks being good makes for great NBA content. So what if they’re just the 4th seed? They’re fun! And when the Knicks are fun, the league is fun.

Bron is absolutely right on two counts. First, ain’t no denying Dipset. And when they performed at Madison Square Garden to start the season you just knew this was going to be a special one.
But beyond that? Man, the NBA is so much fun when the Knicks are actually good. No other fanbase in the NBA brings quite the same energy to the discourse.
I mean, they’re literally going crazy over a 4 seed right now. Like, legitimately. Look at how they’re celebrating. What other fan base does this?

They are absolutely insufferable right now. And why wouldn’t they be? For years, all we’ve been telling them is about how they lost the Porzingis trade and how they missed out on Zion Williamson and how they were never going to be chosen by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Now, here they are coming out on the better end of an eight-game winning streak and the 4th seed in the East. They might keep climbing, too.
This passion and this energy is needed. It’s what makes the NBA fun and what makes these teams a joy to watch. It’s those ups and downs on the journey that make it worth the ride.
So is the NBA better when Knicks fans are up? Absolutely. And no matter where this leads, Knicks fans, just know you absolutely deserve this joy. Please, continue to make basketball more exciting.
