With LeBron James’ new movie “Space Jam: A New Legacy” releasing in about a month, there is plenty of intrigue about James’ role in the movie.
Other NBA and WNBA players like Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard, Diana Taurasi and more are featured in the film, but the premise focuses on James’ character and the importance of family.
James is all about family, which is evident in the way he supports his sons as they grow up in the world.
In a promotional interview for the movie, James discussed the parallels between real life and life as a Tune Squad member:
“This is a fictional version of myself but it’s also kind of who I am as well. What works so well with the character is I was able to implement a lot of the things I actually do when the camera’s not on…For me, to able to produce a movie like this but also to be able to star in a movie like this is very humbling for me, just knowing where I come from.”
James shared the interview on Twitter and reacted to it as well:
MAN O MAN!! July 16th can’t get here fast enough!! SO EXCITED 😆!!!!!! https://t.co/CiLbWIgEop

Also making its debut in the film is the new Nike LeBron 19 shoe, which James dons throughout the game. He’ll also wear No. 6 on his Tune Squad jersey, which he’ll switch to when next season tips off.
The switch from No. 23 could result in James having four retired jerseys, which would be the first time in NBA history a player has had that many jerseys in the rafters.
