LeBron James delivered a heartfelt reflection on Bronny’s commitment to USC

That’s one proud dad.

Saturday ended up being a huge day for the James household. The Lakers took a 2-1 lead in their series against the Warriors with a dominant 127-97 win. But for LeBron James, he was especially excited about Bronny James’ commitment to USC.

LeBron’s 18-year-old son has been an internet basketball sensation going all the way back to his 11-year-old travel team games. And amid the attention, he developed into a McDonald’s All-American and legitimate pro basketball prospect.

Even with Bronny’s accomplished high school basketball career, LeBron was proud that Bronny is going to be the first member of the James family to go to college. He spoke about that accomplishment after Game 3 on Saturday.

LeBron said:

“First of all, congratulations to my son on his next journey and picking a great university in USC. I’m proud of him. This is an incredible thing. I think I told Mike after the game unless it was one of my great-grandmothers or great-grandfathers or something like that, to my knowledge this is the first one out of the James gang to go to college. … So it’s very, very, very exciting, very humbling. And a great moment for our family. It’s just super cool. He’s a great kid. USC is getting a great kid. Obviously, he’s there to play basketball, but they’re going to be super surprised at how great of a kid he is even though they’ve been recruiting him for quite a while.”

Bronny is expected to play one season at USC before looking to join his father in the NBA. Fans also enjoyed hearing LeBron’s thoughts on Bronny’s decision.
