11. Los Angeles Chargers – Jaylen Waddle, WR
The Chargers are soon due for a wide receiver over haul, and what better way to get top-tier talent, longevity and a cheap contract than through the draft?
“He is the most elusive receiver in the country and can be dynamic as a kick/punt returner. In 2019, he averaged 17.0 yards per catch, 24.4 per punt return and 35.0 per kickoff return — and scored at least once on each,”writes McShay.
10. Arizona Cardinals – DeVonta Smith, WR
With a wide receiver corps that consists of DeAndre Hopkins, Christian Kirk and future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald, why draft a receiver? Well, McShay believes Cardinals head coach Cliff Kingsbury wants to use four wide receiver sets.
“Before he decided to return to Tuscaloosa for his senior year, Smith was generating first-round buzz last fall,” writes McShay. “It isn’t easy to make 68 catches for 1,256 yards and 14 scores when A) your star QB misses a chunk of the season, and B) your wide receiver room also includes Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs III and Jaylen Waddle. But Smith did it, thanks in part to his explosive burst off the line, crisp route running, sneaky speed and excellent hands.”
