Latest Amway Coaches Poll reveals good news for reeling Wolverines?

The full rankings, including why there’s a tiny sliver of good news for a Michigan football team that’s been reeling.

By now, it’s more than apparent that not only Michigan would be absent from the Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports, but that the Wolverines wouldn’t get a single vote. It’s a well-deserved dishonor for a team that isn’t just backsliding, but looking more moribund by the week.

While that’s the bad news, there is a tiny sliver of good news in the latest poll: as it stands now, Michigan only has to face one ranked team the rest of the way.

Sure, Maryland could find its way into the poll by the time that Dec. 5 rolls around, as the Terrapins sit at 2-1 with wins over Minnesota and Penn State, but the Nittany Lions look as dysfunctional as the maize and blue, and while improved, Rutgers very well should still be Rutgers. However, sitting at No. 3, Ohio State‘s not only more formidable than usual, but the way the defense looks at the moment, Ryan Day’s desire to ‘hang 100’ on the maize and blue very well could come to fruition if something doesn’t change in a hurry.

Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Indiana is still No. 10 after shutting out MSU, Wisconsin is up to No. 10 after shellacking Michigan and a surprisingly undefeated Northwestern is up to No. 20 after taking out Purdue.
