Last-minute noteworthy notes for Colorado vs. Arizona State

A few random and not-so-random things to know while you wait for kickoff.

Below are a few things to know and watch for as we wait patiently for Colorado’s 8:30 p.m. MST start against Arizona State.

  • After Alex Fontenot eclipsed 1,000 career rushing yards against Minnesota, fellow RB Jarek Broussard sits at 966. If Broussard can amass the milestone against ASU, he would become the fastest to reach 1K in school history.
  • Former UCLA QB Tom Ramsey will be ESPNU’s color analyst for the game. When Ramsey was a Bruins senior in 1982, one of his freshman wide receivers was Karl Dorrell. Thanks, CU Sports Information!
  • This will be Colorado and ASU’s 12th meeting dating back to 2006. The Sun Devils won the first seven but since then, CU has won three of the last four meetings. Nine of the previous 11 meetings have also been night games.
  • Sept. 25 has been an interesting and successful day in Colorado football history. In 1900, the Buffaloes beat West High School in Denver 18-0. And then in 1908, CU took down Longmont High School 6-0. Following four more Sept. 25 contests, the competition heightened in 1971 when then-No. 10 Colorado upset No. 6 Ohio State in Columbus. Overall, the Buffs are 7-4 on the day.
