Lamar Miller comes off PUP list and returns to Patriots practice

The backfield is only getting more competitive.

New England Patriots running back Lamar Miller has been activated off the physically unable to perform list, and he attended practice on Monday on the fields behind Gillette Stadium. This is his first practice as a Patriot after signing a one-year deal with the team earlier this offseason.

Miller was recovering from an ACL tear which he suffered in training camp with the Houston Texans in 2019. He will join the Patriots’ backfield, which includes Damien Harris, Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead and J.J. Taylor. Michel had spent much of training camp on the PUP list, which had briefly thrust Harris into a top gig. But it seems Miller, Harris and Michel will compete for the top gig as the team’s bell cow back.
