The Los Angeles Lakers’ summer league squad is about to begin play, and it has a rather intriguing, if not impressive, roster.

Headlining the team is the Lakers’ first-round draft pick in June. Jalen Hood-Schifino is a 6-foot-6 guard from Indiana University who has legitimate potential at both ends of the court. Also on the team is Maxwell Lewis, an athletic 3-and-D wing the Lakers took at No. 40, and Max Christie, who was a rookie last season.

At first, it looked like perhaps Scotty Pippen Jr. wouldn’t be on the squad, but he is listed on the Lakers’ final summer league roster.

Los Angeles will begin play on Monday in the first game of the California Classic, which will be against the Miami Heat at 3 p.m. Pacific time.
