Lakers stars and bench combine for awesome 1st half in Game 2 vs. Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers had an amazing first half to get off to a great start in their Game 2 against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Lakers bounced back in a major way in the first half of their Game 2 against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, with both their star players and their reserves delivering big performances to take a double-digit lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Lakers led the Rockets 67-51 at halftime, with Anthony Davis scoring 18 points and LeBron James posting 17 points. But the Lakers wouldn’t be in pole position were it not for the play of their bench, particularly Rajon Rondo and Markieff Morris. Morris caught fire towards the end of the first quarter on his way to 14 first-half points, with most of those points coming off assists from Rondo. Rondo had seven assists, three steals and three points but was tied for a team-high +17 in the first half with LeBron James. When Rondo hit his 3-pointer to close the first quarter on an assist for LeBron, you could tell it was L.A.’s half.

The Rockets haven’t had a good game but with their reliance on the 3-point shot, you can never deem them out of any game until it’s truly over. Luckily for the Lakers, they’ve done as good of a job as they could have imagined in starting Game 2 on the right foot.
