Lakers looking to avoid consecutive losses to help them keep focus

LeBron James and Anthony Davis both stated the Los Angeles Lakers team goal of avoiding consecutive losses again after their last two.

The Los Angeles Lakers have made a habit of surpassing their goals so far this season and Thursday night was a rare moment for them as they not only lost to the Milwaukee Bucks but lost consecutive games for the first time this season.

The Lakers had previously stated it a goal for their team not to lose consecutive games this season. However, they’ve reset the same goal for themselves once again. While some might say you can’t do that after already failing to accomplish it, it’s less about the actual stated goal of avoiding consecutive losses and more about a carrot to keep the Lakers focused through a grueling 82-game season.

Here’s how LeBron James described it to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

“You want to make goals along the process, along the way, along the marathon,” LeBron James said. “And for us to play exceptional basketball for the majority of this part of the season, it’s commitment of focus, it’s a commitment of what we’re trying to do: Continue to get better and just be laser sharp for a majority of the process so far. So we’re just going to try to continue that.”

Anthony Davis also stated that the Lakers wanted to avoid consecutive losses, but James obviously has been here more times than he has and when it comes to long-term outlook, the Lakers take their cues from LeBron.

But the best news for the Lakers other than a new goal is that they will finally be going home. After playing 12 of their last 15 games on the road, the Lakers will play seven of their next eight at home.
