Lakers interest in trade for Bulls’ Zach LaVine surfaces again

Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine has once again been connected to the Los Angeles Lakers in trade rumors.

Ever since the Chicago Bulls’ ugly start to the season, they have been one of the most common teams being thrown around in potential trade rumors. A report from earlier in the year indicated that the Bulls were focused on finding a trade for Zach LaVine, but he’s been hurt. LaVine hasn’t appeared in a game for Chicago since November 28.

LaVine has been connected to a few different teams as rumors have swirled, but the Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the main ones. Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic reported that he expects the two teams to come to an agreement on a trade eventually.

Now, the two sides have once again been connected. Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today noted that Lakers are one of the teams that have shown an interest in LaVine.

“Teams looking for offense, and that includes the Los Angeles Lakers, are interested in Zach LaVine and his availability,” Zillgitt wrote. “LaVine averages 21 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists and shoots 44.3% from the field, 33.6% on 3-pointers and 86.6% on free throws. A talented scorer, he has played in just 18 games this season – out since Nov. 28 with right foot inflammation. LaVine is in the second year of a five-year $215.1 million contract.”

Pairing LaVine with LeBron James and Anthony Davis could form a formidable trio in LA, giving them a nice boost, especially on the offensive end.

Before he can get traded, though, LaVine has to get healthy. Head coach Billy Donovan recently stated that LaVine’s practices with the Windy City Bulls have been “positive,” which is a good sign moving forward.
