Lakers’ Frank Vogel says LeBron James had a performance for the ages vs. Pacers

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel had high praise for LeBron James’ 39-point game against the Indiana Pacers.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James played an incredible game against the Indiana Pacers to deliver the team’s 10th win of the season.

Without Anthony Davis’ presence down low, James needed to step up after returning from a one-game suspension.

The 36-year-old forward did just that.

After quietly scoring 17 points in the first half, LeBron erupted late in the fourth quarter and in overtime with several deep 3s to bring home the victory.

After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, who once head coached the Pacers, praised James’ game.

“The big fella took us home,” Vogel said. “What LeBron did tonight was just a performance for the ages. I know these fans and how much they love their hoops here in Indianapolis, and he put on one h-ll of a show. Obviously, he gets the game ball.”

Vogel continued about how James took on the role of leading the defense at center while leading the offense as the primary ball-handler.

“It takes a lot of energy,” Vogel said. “I know he wanted to get this W. He really wanted to play in that Knicks game, Madison Square Garden, he looks forward to that every year. It was very disappointing for him to not be in that game. … To be able to quarterback the defense and carry that load offensively is just a special performance. Just something else.”
