Lakers at Wolves: Player props, point spread, betting picks for Tuesday

The Los Angeles Lakers head to Minnesota to face a Timberwolves team with No. 1 pick Anthony Edwards.

The Los Angeles Lakers are in Minneapolis as they face off against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night for the second time this season. The first meeting was long ago, way back on Dec. 27, a 127-91 route by the Lakers. And while there are several differences to consider in this game, there is one similarity from the last matchup to tonight’s: no Anthony Davis for the Lakers. This could be some useful information for you if you’re looking to get in a little action on the game and make the smartest bet you can on BetMGM.

The Lakers and Wolves will tip-off at 8 p.m. at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Injury report

The Lakers begin a stretch of at least two-to-three weeks tonight without Anthony Davis, who strained his right calf/Achilles area in Sunday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets. However, the Lakers expect both Alex Caruso and LeBron James to play. The Wolves are without D’Angelo Russell and Jarret Culver.

Game intel + Prop Bets we like

The Lakers are 5-1 this season in games this season without Anthony Davis, including their blowout against the Wolves in late December. But the Wolves do look like a better team since the recent return of Karl-Anthony Towns to the lineup, after the star big man had his own bout with COVID after losing several family members, including his mother, to the virus.

Even though Towns is expressing that he’s taking things slow, he played nearly 34 minutes in Sunday night’s impressive win against the Toronto/Tampa Raptors and his presence helps steady the Wolves on both ends. That will be the biggest difference between tonight’s game and the Dec. 27 blowout, as well as the fact the Lakers now realize they’ll be without Davis for an extended period. Towns should feat without Davis there to match-up with him and he should definitely hit the OVER of 21.5 points (-155).

While Frank Vogel has toyed with his starting lineup in games without Davis, no matter the role, it would seem like night for Kyle Kuzma to step up for Los Angeles. BetMGM currently has his over-under at 14.5 (OVER -125) and he should get plenty of opportunities to get to that number. Another interesting player prop is Anthony Edwards at 16.5 (OVER -105), who has looked even more comfortable as of late and should have a field day at the rim against a Davis-less Lakers defense.
