Lakers and Knicks have talked about potential Cam Reddish trade

The Lakers may have interest in acquiring Cam Reddish.

The Los Angeles Lakers may have won eight of their last 12 games, but it is still clear they’re not close to becoming championship contenders.

One reason is their lack of frontcourt depth, especially at both forward positions.

Troy Brown Jr. has often looked like a mediocre player at both ends of the floor, and Juan Toscano-Anderson has barely played. Wenyen Gabriel, the team’s only true power forward other than Anthony Davis, plays with great energy and effort, but lacks basketball skills and is undersized at 205 pounds.

Reportedly, the Lakers have talked to the New York Knicks about possibly acquiring forward Cam Reddish.

Via Lakers Daily:

“It is notable, that Knicks youngster Cam Reddish has been mentioned in various trade rumors as of late.

“‘There was a report from the New York Daily News on Wednesday that stated Reddish and his representatives were working with the Knicks on a trade,’ wrote NBA insider Ian Begley. ‘Reddish said he wasn’t aware of that development and hadn’t requested a trade. Regardless, several teams have expressed interest in trading for Reddish since the Knicks acquired him in January 2022. The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks are among the teams who reached out to New York in that span.

“‘It’s worth noting that the Lakers and Knicks talked earlier this month about a potential trade that would have required a third team to complete.'”

Reddish, a 6-foot-8, 218-pound forward, mostly plays the 3. he has shown flashes of what he could become, but the fourth-year man has thus far failed to put it all together.
