No. 4 Tennessee (26-2, 8-1 SEC) defeated No. 16 Alabama (24-10, 2-4 SEC), 7-5, Sunday before a sellout crowd at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
With the victory, Tennessee claimed its third consecutive SEC series. The Lady Vols came from behind to defeat Alabama.
Alabama led, 2-0, in the second inning. The Lady Vols scored five runs in the third inning.
Tennessee led, 3-2, after a three-run home run by Kiki Milloy.
Giulia Koutsoyanoplos hit a two run single, extending the Lady Vols’ to 5-2.
Tennessee extended its lead to, 7-2, on a two-run double by Lair Beautae.
The Crimson Tide pulled to within 7-5 in the fifth inning as Kenleigh Cahalan hit a solo home run and Bailey Downing added a two-run home run in the inning.
Graduate student Ashley Rogers (10-0) pitched 5.2 innings of relief for Tennessee, allowing three runs, three hits and one walk, wile recording five strikeouts.
Payton Gottshall started and pitched 1.1 innings. She yielded two runs, three hits and two walks.
