Lady Vols victorious with Madison Webber’s walk-off home run

The Lady Vols defeated Austin Peay as Madison Webber hit a walk-off home run.

No. 18 Tennessee closed out its six-game homestand with a 9-1 victory over Austin Peay Tuesday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Junior designated player Madison Webber hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, securing a run-rule win for the Lady Vols.

Webber’s home run was one of three in the game for the Lady Vols (16-6). Lair Beautae homered in the fourth inning and Ashley Morgan hit a home run in the fifth.

Tennessee and Austin Peay (12-7) were locked in a scoreless tie through the first three innings. The Lady Vols produced three runs in each of the final three innings to earn a run-rule victory.

In the bottom of the third inning, Kiki Milloy recorded an RBI single. She scored when Rylie West grounded out.

Tennessee added another run on an RBI groundout by Morgan.

The Lady Vols added three more runs in the following inning.

Kaitlin Parsons came home on a balk. Beautae homered and Amanda Ayala, who went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, two RBIs and two stolen bases, had an RBI double.

Austin Peay scored in the top of the fifth inning before Morgan and Webber homered in the bottom of the frame.

Bailey McCachren (3-1) pitched a complete game for the Lady Vols. She surrendered one run, four hits and two walks, while striking out five.

Tennessee will begin SEC play Friday at Missouri.
