Ashley Morgan provided an offensive spark for the No. 17 Lady Vols Friday night at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Morgan, Tennessee’s senior first baseman, went 3-for-3 with a home run, one double, three RBIs and scored one run in Tennessee’s victory over No. 21 Georgia.
Ally Shipman also provided offensive contribution for the Lady Vols (34-7, 7-6 SEC).
Shipman went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple and scored one run against the Bulldogs (28-13, 6-10 SEC).
Georgia scored early, tallying a run in the top of the first inning when Savana Sikes came home on a passed ball.
UT answered in the second on Morgan’s solo homer that made it 1-1.
The Lady Vols took the lead when Shipman’s triple plated Chelsea Seggern with the go-ahead run for Tennessee, which saw three of its five hits go for extra bases.
Morgan and Madison Webber both singled in the contest for the Lady Vols. Tennessee picked up an insurance run in the sixth when Morgan doubled home Shipman.
In the circle, junior Ashley Rogers posted a stellar performance as she pitched a complete game to improve to 20-5 on the season.
She surrendered one unearned run, five hits and recorded six strikeouts.
