Tennessee opened its 2021 volleyball season with a three-set victory over Texas Tech Friday night.
The Lady Vols, who were picked to finish fourth in the Southeastern Conference preseason coaches poll, opened its campaign with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-18, victory over Texas Tech at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The match was the first of three in the Tennessee Classic. Tennessee plays East Tennessee State at 12:30 p.m. EDT before closing out tournament play against North Carolina State at 6:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
Against Texas Tech (0-1), Breana Runnels and Morgahn Fingall each recorded 17 kills for the Lady Vols.
Runnels also totaled 12 digs and two blocks.
Knoxville native and Berean Christian School graduate Lily Felts finished with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Natalie Hayward added 43 assists for Tennessee (1-0).
