It was an afternoon of mixed results for Tennessee’s softball team Sunday as the Lady Vols split a doubleheader with Miami (OH) at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
UT (5-1) took the opener over the RedHawks, 7-3, before Miami won the nightcap 2-0.
In the opener Sunday, the Lady Vols had four extra-base hits as Cailin Hannon clubbed a two-run homer, while Amanda Ayala, Chelsea Seggern and Madison Webber each had doubles.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Hannon clubbed a two-run round-tripper and Webber drove in two runs with a double to help the Lady Vols overcome a 5-3 deficit against Miami.
In the nightcap, the RedHawks’ Courtney Vierstra stifled Tennessee’s offense, holding the Lady Vols to three hits.
Ivy Davis had a double for UT, while Webber and Kaitlin Parsons each singled.
In the circle for the Lady Vols, Ashley Rogers (3-1) took the loss despite hurling a complete game. She gave up two runs, five hits, three walks and six strikeouts.
