Lady Vols shut out Indiana in tennis

The Lady Vols shut out Indiana in tennis.

The Tennessee women’s tennis team returned to the court Saturday and defeated Indiana.

The No. 20 Lady Vols shut out the Hoosiers, 4-0, at Knoxville’s Goodfriend Tennis Center.

Tennessee, which returned to action after more than one week off, picked up three wins in singles and clinched its doubles point by sweeping a pair of matches.

The Lady Vols (4-2) picked up wins in singles from Esther Adeshina, Eleonora Molinaro and Callie Creath.

Adeshina defeated Mila Mejic, 6-0, 6-1.

Molinaro defeated Rose Hu, 6-3, 6-4, and Callie Creath won her match, when her opponent, Lexi Kubas, retired after the first set. Kubas won the first set, 6-4, before dropping out of the match.

Tennessee’s tandem of Tenika McGriffin and Daria Kuczer, the nation’s No. 6 doubles team, defeated No. 27 Laura Masic and Lara Schneider, 6-3.

Molinaro and Rebeka Mertena teamed to defeat Kubas and Hu, 6-1.
