Lady Vols ranked No. 23 in AP Poll

Lady Vols crack AP poll.

For the first time this season, the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team is ranked in the AP Poll.

The Lady Vols (8-1, 2-0 SEC) debuted in this week’s poll as the No. 23 team in the country.

Among UT’s victories this season are wins over Indiana and Arkansas. Both the Razorbacks and Hoosiers were ranked when the Lady Vols defeated them.

Tennessee’s latest victory was a 64-63 win over LSU in Baton Rouge on Sunday.

The Lady Vols have appeared in the top-25 every season since the poll began during the 1976-77 campaign.

UT opened the season as an unranked team, but the Lady Vols have received votes throughout the majority of the season.

Tennessee is one of six Southeastern Conference teams ranked in this week’s poll along with South Carolina, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Mississippi State and Arkansas.

Georgia and Alabama, the Lady Vols’ next two opponents, received votes this week also.
