Tennessee dropped a Southeastern Conference road match Saturday.
The No. 24 Lady Vols fell in four sets, 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23, to Mississippi State at the Newell-Grissom Building before an announced crowd of 610.
Breana Runnels had a double-double as she came up with 21 kills and 11 digs. She also finished with five blocks and three aces.
Danielle Mahaffey added 10 kills and four blocks for Tennessee (17-7, 9-5 SEC). Mogahn Fingall added 10 kills against the Bulldogs (21-5, 12-2 SEC).
Lily Felts finished with 13 digs and two service aces, while Natalie Hayward was the Lady Vols’ leading passer with 42 assists. She was also a force defensively, adding 13 digs.
Tennessee and Mississippi State conclude their two-match series Sunday in Starkville at 2 p.m. EST.
