The Lady Vols picked up a Southeastern Conference victory by the slimmest of margins, having to overcome a slow start.
Tennessee, which fell behind by 10 points early, notched a 68-67 comeback victory over Ole Miss Thursday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The No. 20 Lady Vols (11-3, 5-1 SEC) found themselves behind early out of the gate and faced at 18-8 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
Tennessee, however, chipped away at the Rebels’ lead and trimmed the Ole Miss (9-6) advantage to 33-30 by halftime.
The Lady Vols managed to hang around despite shooting 12-for-26 from the floor and committing eight turnovers in the first half. UT was 3-for-11 from the field in the opening frame.
Rennia Davis scored 21 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out two assists and finished the contest with three steals.
Davis was one of three players to post double figures in the scoring column for Tennessee.
Rae Burrell had 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Jordan Horston scored 13 points and had five assists. She went 5-for-8 from the field.
Donnetta Johnson scored 19 points to pace the Rebels.
