Tennessee notched a comeback victory on the road when it edged Alabama, 4-3, in a Southeastern Conference softball game Friday night in Tuscaloosa.
After falling behind 2-0 when the No. 3 Crimson Tide scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning, the 19th-ranked Lady Vols put up three runs in the top of the fourth as Ally Shipman had an RBI double. Amanda Ayala and Cailin Hannon also drove in runs with scoring singles.
Hannon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, drove in a run with a single in the sixth for Tennessee (21-3, 2-2 SEC).
The Crimson Tide (22-2, 3-1 SEC) pulled to within 4-3 when Bailey Dowling blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh.
Tennessee pitcher Ashley Rogers sparkled in the circle as she surrendered just one earned run, three hits and three walks.
Rogers (10-1) finished the contest with seven strikeouts.
