Kyrie Irving issues goodbye to Brooklyn Nets fans after his trade to the Dallas Mavericks

Kyrie Irving says goodbye to the Brooklyn Nets fans who supported him during his time with the team.

Former Brooklyn Net Kyrie Irving has issued his goodbye to Nets fans after he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. Irving was sent to the Mavericks along with Markieff Morris for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a 2029 first-round pick, and second-round picks in 2027 and 2029.

Irving’s desire for a trade became public on Friday and until Sunday, the Twitter world was rife with hot takes and mock trades. In the end, most reports agree that Irving wanted a trade after being unable to come to terms on a contract extension that satisfied him and the team.

In Irving’s four seasons with Brooklyn, he averaged 27.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 48.9% from the field and 39.6% from the 3-point line. Since Irving’s first season (2019-2020), Brooklyn had been in the playoffs every season, but lost in either the first round or in the conference semifinals. Irving made the All-Star team three times during his time as a Net.
