Kyren Williams sees huge things for Notre Dame under Marcus Freeman

“Man what a leader, winner” – Jim Rome on Kyren Williams

Former Notre Dame star running back Kyren Williams only spent one season with Marcus Freeman on his coaching staff but it didn’t take long for the former Fighting Irish defensive coordinator to make an impact on the soon-to-be NFL draft pick.

Williams joined Jim Rome to discuss the future of Notre Dame football under Freeman’s watch and had only compliments to give.

“With Coach Freeman as the head coach, there’s not going to be a drop off,” Williams said “There might be upward motivation in a sense because they’re playing for somebody is going to have their back 100 percent of the time

Was that a knock on on Brian Kelly?  Did Williams hint that players didn’t get the sense that Kelly didn’t have their back like Freeman appears to?

He didn’t go as far to call out his former head coach but the wording is certainly interesting.  Williams continued with more praise of Freeman.

“A lot of people say he’s a players coach and he truly is from what I’ve seen. I don’t know how different it is now that they’re in off-season workouts, but when I was there I just knew that Coach Freeman could light a fire under your butt to get you to play as hard as he wanted to!

You can catch the entire interview below to hear Williams discuss getting prepared for the NFL combine, his longtime dream of playing in the NFL, what he brings to an NFL roster, the meaning of “BAM!”, and plenty else.
