This is going to get everyone talking, but let’s be clear about the matter before anyone gets too worked up: Kyle Whittingham said something on Monday which lots of coaches and administrators in college football agree with. He wasn’t being mean. He wasn’t being nasty or unfair.
What Whittingham was doing: Painting his team, Utah, as the under-resourced underdog before USC comes to Salt Lake City and steps inside Rice-Eccles Stadium for Saturday’s big game against the Utes.
It is interesting that Whittingham chose to talk about NIL and money when the subject of Lincoln Riley right after his defending Pac-12 championship team got whacked by UCLA.
Here’s what Whittingham said about NIL, USC, and other subjects as USC-Utah game week gets going. Josh Newman of the Salt Lake Tribune provided the report.
