“I didn’t think I was going to catch it,” said Falcons rookie tight end Kyle Pitts of his first career touchdown catch following Atlanta’s 27-20 victory over the New York Jets in London. The former Florida Gators star was still in disbelief from his monster day on the field.
After all, not only did he record a career-high 119 receiving yards and a touchdown, he proved he can be the team’s No. 1 option on a day Atlanta was without its top two wide receivers. Even when Russell Gage and Calvin Ridley were out there in previous games, neither has had a performance on par with Pitts’ dominant Week 5 against the Jets on Sunday.
