Kyle Pitts cemented his status as an elite prospect at Florida’s Pro Day

If you didn’t know, Kyle Pitts is an alien.

Florida tight end Kyle Pitts did not disappoint at his pro day workout on Wednesday. Pitts, who caught a whopping 12 touchdowns on just 43 receptions last season for the Gators, is considered one of the truly elite prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, so it wasn’t an easy bar to clear.

Obviously the production was there for the prospect out of Florida, but tight ends don’t usually crack the top-10 of the NFL draft, so Pitts needed to put on a show in order to cement his status as a player worthy of a top pick.

It’s safe to say he did. Pitts, who measured in at nearly 6’6″ and 245 pounds, clocked in a 4.44 on the 40-yard dash.

The speed is incredible for someone that size. Pitts’ speed translates to the field as well, so he’s not just a workout wonder. Just watch this touchdown against Kentucky last year.

Players that big should not be able to move that quickly. And there’s even more to his game.

Pitts also has one of the longest wingspans for a tight end in NFL history. His wingspan is damn near 84 inches! That’s a higher mark than Jets left tackle Mekhi Bection who is over 6’7″ and 360 pounds.

That length helps him as a blocker. And while he’s not going to dominate in the run game like Rob Gronkowski used to and George Kittle does now, he is more than capable of opening up a hole for his running back.

As the numbers show, Pitts moves like a tight end — he routinely beat top SEC corners in one-on-one coverage — but it’s the versatility as a blocker that makes him a truly special prospect.

For many reasons, Pitts is as can’t-miss a prospect as they come. His pro-day performance is just another sign that he’ll be a force in the league for years to come.
