Kyle McCord, Dillon Gabriel enter the transfer portal

Two key starters in 2023 entered the transfer portal on Monday.

The 2023-24 transfer portal cycle is officially underway. The portal opened on Monday but several graduate transfers already entered the transfer portal ahead of the official open date.

It began early on Monday morning as former five-star quarterback Kyle McCord put his name in the transfer portal. McCord started all 12 games for Ohio State and led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record. They are set to play in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl against the Missouri Tigers. Ohio State will likely have to roll with Devin Brown as the quarterback in that game.

McCord finished the season with 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 65.8% of his passes. He is another Power Five gunslinger who should be in high demand in the transfer portal.

Joining McCord on Monday is former UCF Knight and current Oklahoma Sooners southpaw Dillon Gabriel in the transfer portal. He helped lead the turnover in the Sooner State for OU. He passed for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns while completing 69.3% of his passes. He set career-highs with yards and completion percentage this season while Oklahoma finished 10-2 on the year.

As Oklahoma prepares to join the SEC for the 2024 season, they will get see a glimpse of the future in the bowl matchup against the Arizona Wildcats. It will be incoming Big 12 school Arizona and the outgoing Sooners. Five-star signee Jackson Arnold ready to roll.
