The New York Giants have not won postseason game since winning Super Bowl XLVI in February of 2012. In fact, they’ve only been to the postseason once since knocking off Bill Belichick, Tom Brady & Co. and that was after the 2016 season.
They have just 12 wins over the past three seasons and have become one of the NFL’s basement dwellers, consistently vying for the top pick in the NFL Draft.
That could all change this year with a new coaching staff headed by Joe Judge and former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett at offensive coordinator.
Kyle Brandt, one the four hosts of “Good Morning Football” on the NFL Network, believes the Giants have an excellent chance at returning to the postseason in 2020 and it will be led by third-year running back Saquon Barkley and second-year quarterback Daniel Jones.
“I look at Judge. I like the receivers,” said Brandt. “We’re all very encouraged by what Daniel Jones looked like at the end of last year, but listen, we got to talk about the rock star. I will quote the words of Nicole Richie’s dad in ‘say you, Saquon, say it together, naturally.’ That’s my man right there. He’s going to do it all night long.
“Welcome my friends to the year of Saquon Barkley when he will emerge nine months from now as the best running back on the planet. I have stock in him and guys I don’t know if you’ve noticed, the Dow Jones is up for the year. It’s a miracle and if you do not own Saquon stock it might be too late.”
Co-host Nate Burleson, a former NFL wide receiver, believes that Jones and Barkley will be factors, but that they will be helped greatly by his supporting cast — mainly his wide receivers.
Burleson, of course, previously predicted the Giants would win the NFC East.
