Kristian Fulton: Tennessee Titans’ veterans are ‘going to help me a lot’

Kristian Fulton believes the experience the Titans have in the secondary will help make his transition to the NFL a lot easier.

The Tennessee Titans needed to bolster the secondary as they prepared for the 2020 season, a need that was further highlighted by the departure of current free agent cornerback, Logan Ryan.

Tennessee addressed that need with the No. 61 overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by selecting Kristian Fulton out of LSU.

Fulton, who says he believes he plays his best football in man coverage, is excited to learn from players already within the Titans’ secondary as he prepares for his rookie season in Nashville.

He noted the experience of Malcolm Butler and Adoree’ Jackson specifically.

“They had a great defense all-around,” Fulton told me. “They have some great defensive backs, great safeties there. I feel like that’s going to help me a lot, make it as easy as possible. There’s a lot of experience there.”

Fulton is eager to take the field and show the NFL that the talent he displayed against some of college football’s toughest competition in the SEC translates to the next level.

“I’m looking forward to being an impact player where they need me to fit in,” he said.

When asked if he’s better in zone or man coverage, Fulton believes it’s man.

“I’d say I’m strongest in man,” he said

Fulton forced the highest incompletion rate (29.3%) of any cornerback in college football in his past two years as a starter, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fulton appeared in 15 games for the Tigers during last year’s undefeated season when LSU won the national championship, recording 38 tackles (28 solo), one interception and 14 passes defensed.
