Kobe Bufkin would be ‘excited’ to play with Mikal Bridges and the Nets

If chosen by the Brooklyn Nets, Michigan guard Kobe Bufkin said on Wednesday that he would be excited to play with Mikal Bridges and the franchise.

NEW YORK — The Brooklyn Nets have some important decisions to make on Thursday once the 2023 NBA Draft begins. The Nets, as of this writing, have the 21st and 22nd overall picks in the first round and one of the players that could be available in that range is Michigan guard Kobe Bufkin. During the pre-draft media availability, Bufkin had a quick conversation with Nets Wire about how the draft process has gone for him and what his thoughts are regarding possibly playing in Brooklyn.

“It’s been very smooth,” Bufkin said when asked about his experience with the draft process. “I got a good group of guys around me, got the right people around me and I’m looking forward to experiencing this night.” Bufkin has usually been mocked to go outside of the lottery, but it’s possible that he could be available for the Nets to pick when the 21st pick rolls around.

“I’d be excited,” Bufkin said when asked about how he would feel if he were drafted by Brooklyn. “Excited to get to work, play with Mikal (Bridges) and those guys. Anywhere I go, I’ll be ready to go. I’m ready to compete.” Bufkin finished the 2022-23 season making the All-Big Ten Third-Team thanks to what he did during the season. If Bufkin is available, Brooklyn will be getting a guard who can score as soon as he touches the floor and could handle some of the ball-handling duties as well.
