The Atlanta Hawks aren’t exactly the best team the Brooklyn Nets have hosted at Barclays Center so far in the 2019-20 season. This only makes it all the more strange that Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was in attendance for Saturday night’s game.
On Thursday, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Bryant is among the candidates being considered for the class 2020. Legendary San Antonio Spurs power forward Tim Duncan and former Brooklyn Nets big man Kevin Garnett are also candidates to be inducted in the upcoming year.
As for why Bryant was around for Saturday’s game, it may have had more to do with the Hawks than the Nets, even though he sat right beside Kenny Atkinson and his staff, and has trained Kyrie Irving.
As the Hawks broadcast team on Fox Sports Southeast shared Bryant “knows Trae Young well,” and Bryant’s daughters are also fans of Young.
