Knicks’ Miles McBride had quite a G League debut with Westchester

McBride neared a double-double on assignment with the Westchester Knicks in a win over the Long Island Nets.

New York Knicks rookie Miles McBride on Wednesday neared a double-double on assignment with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League in a win over the Long Island Nets.

McBride produced 25 points, a game-high nine assists, five rebounds and two assists during the 104-98 victory. He finished the contest by shooting 10-of-24 from the field, including 2-of-9 from 3-point range, in 41 minutes of action.

With playing time at a minimum with New York, the team assigned McBride to Westchester prior to the contest. He has logged just four minutes across five appearances this season and finally had the opportunity to see heavy playing time on Wednesday with Westchester.

He looked to have little rust in his first extended action of the season.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau expressed on Wednesday how important it is for McBride to play with Westchester whenever possible. He loves what he has seen from McBride to this point of the season and believes he has a bright future in the league.

The playing time may not necessarily be there right now for McBride, but the 36th overall pick has the luxury of playing with Westchester to stay sharp and work on his game. He did just that on Wednesday.
