On Saturday, the New York Knicks reportedly finalized a five-year contract to hire Tom Thibodeau as their next head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Thibodeau last served as the head coach and president of the Minnesota Timberwolves before his firing in January 2019. His tumultuous stint with the organization lasted just three years after the trade demand by All-Star Jimmy Butler ultimately led to his firing.

Thibodeau has earned a reputation around the NBA as a hard-nosed coach that demands a lot from his players. He has also been regarded as a strong player development coach but one that often uses his players for long stretches during games.

Based on that reputation of giving his team plenty of minutes, users on social media immediately took to Twitter to fire off some jokes upon news of the hiring, which included R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson and other players on the Knicks.
