Kliff Kingsbury roasts Sean McVay and the Rams for Malibu draft house

Kliff Kingsbury took a playful shot at Sean McVay for the Rams renting a Malibu beach house for the draft.

Sean McVay, Les Snead and the rest of the Rams’ talent evaluators will be nice and comfortable during the 2021 NFL draft next week after the team rented out a beach house in Malibu to serve as its headquarters from Thursday to Saturday. The Rams will make their picks from the 9,000-square-foot mansion, which features an infinity pool and views of the Pacific.

Kliff Kingsbury used the news as an opportunity to take a shot at his friend McVay, calling this a ploy for him to have a chance to take his shirt off on TV again like he did on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” last season.

And of course, he snuck in a jab at McVay’s choice of wine, rosé.

Kingsbury had the best setup for last year’s draft, posted up on his couch with his feet up at home. It wasn’t much of a “war room,” but rather a luxurious living room with a laptop and two computer monitors in front of him.

Kingsbury will probably be back at the Cardinals’ headquarters this year after working remotely for the draft a year ago, so maybe he’s just jealous ownership didn’t rent out a cushy mansion for him to hang out in next weekend.

And for the record, McVay said he felt dumb for taking his shirt off on the second episode of “Hard Knocks,” so there was some immediate regret.

“I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t come off as a total tool with my shirt off at my house in the pool,” he said last year. “That was my biggest concern. As soon as I did that with them, I said ‘I cannot believe I was that dumb to do that.’ If you can believe it, it was actually worse before we cut a couple of those scenes out. So I came away scathed but not as scarred as I would have been otherwise.”
