Kliff Kingsbury not ruling out J.J. Watt return yet

Kingsbury said after Thursday’s game he didn’t know the timeline for Watt’s recovery. He did not say it was season-ending yet.

The Arizona Cardinals suffered an important loss to their defense with the injury to defensive end J.J. Watt. He needs surgery to repair what has been reported as a separated shoulder, torn rotator cuff, torn labrum and torn biceps.

While it is believed to be potentially season-ending, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is not yet ready to declare it as such.

“I’m not sure on the exact timetable,” he said postgame on Thursday. “He’ll have surgery and then we’ll kind of take it from there.”

He did say the surgery would take place next week.

Based on the number of injuries suffered all at once, it would seem virtually impossible to return at any point before next season.

That said, they also don’t want to simply rule him out if there is even a slight chance of his coming back.
