Kliff Kingsbury not named among PFF’s top offensive playcallers

PFF named the top six offensive playcallers for 2022. Kliff Kingsbury did not make the cut.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been known as an offensive guru. His offenses wherever he has been have been good. His players rave about his offensive mind and his scheme.

However, he doesn’t get the same love from some. Pro Football Focus named the top offensive playcallers for 2022 and Kingsbury was not included in the six they mentioned.

Who was included? Andy Reid, Kellen Moore, Byron Leftwich, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay and Matt LaFleur.

Kingsbury’s offenses have been a mixed bag analytically. Sometimes, they are praised for their running game. Kyler Murray pushes the ball down the field with accuracy, but they also have lacked complexity in the route tree and have a lot of passes thrown sideways and behind the line of scrimmage.

Kingsbury’s Cardinals have also faltered late in the season, which likely affected the view on his offenses.

Is this the year that he climbs into this top tier? If the Cardinals sustain the success they had in the first half of 2021, there’s no reason to believe that he can’t.
