Kliff Kingsbury not focusing on position battles yet

He won’t look at the battles until well into padded practices.

Every year when training camps roll around, fans focus on the battles between players for spots on the roster and for starting jobs. That is no different this year, as there are some key battles at different positions.

However, head coach Kliff Kingsbury is not at that point, especially since the pads have not gone on yet.

He isn’t focusing on any of the battles yet.

“I think right now, just taking a holistic approach to try to inch it along and maximize each day we have as a team,” he explained. “It’s such a unique season and training camp, that’s kind of my thought.”

The focus on battles will come.

“Once we get the pads on down the road, a couple of weeks into actual padded practices, I think we will kind of be able to sit back and say, ‘all right, here are the battles’, but right now it’s just about maximizing each day we are here and make sure they leave the facility a day better.”

The Cardinals will be able to put pads on for the first time on August 17.
