After lifting the Larry O’Brien trophy in 2022, the Golden State Warriors failed to retain their title as champions the following season. With an aging roster, Golden State has faced multiple questions regarding its ability to contend in the coming years.
During a recent appearance on “Podcast P with Paul George,” presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment, Klay Thompson revealed how the Warriors championship-winning core remains as hungry as ever. Thompson also noted that Chris Paul is already part of the core’s group chat and everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“I know Andrew, Steph, Dray, CP and the rest of the guys are hungry, we’re in our group chat right now trying to set up some mini-camps before the season but we’re all on the same page,” Thompson said. “Like look, we got another ring in us and we expect to do it if we stay the course. … Now I”m hungrier than ever and I want to get back to that mountain top. 4 (rings) is cool, but why not get as many as you can get or at least attempt (to).”
The trio of Steph Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green have won four championships together. Andrew Wiggins has won a ring since joining Golden State, too. Now, with a veteran star such as Paul also within the rotation, the Warriors are expected to be a legitimate contender once again.
Nevertheless, Golden State will face stiff competition to get out of the Western Conference. The Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies are looking to make the NBA Finals this season.
Fortunately, no other team has the collective championship experience that Golden State boasts.
