On Friday, the Sacramento Kings signed Texas Tech Red Raiders guard Jahmi’us Ramsey, the 43rd overall pick in the NBA draft, to a rookie contract. According to Jason Jones of The Athletic, Ramsey signed a three-year contract with the first two years fully guaranteed.

Ramsey was named the 2019-20 Big 12 Freshman of the Year after averaging 15 points, four rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks in 27 games played. He shot 44.2% from the field, including 42.6% from 3-point range on 5.2 attempts per game, which ranked second in the Big 12.

The 6-foot-4 guard boats a 6-foot-10 wingspan, which will certainly be to his advantage on the defensive end of the floor. He has also been praised for his scoring ability since he can work from virtually all over the floor.

Ramsey was considered by some to a first-round pick before he ultimately slipped to the middle of the second round. However, if he can pick up the NBA game rather quickly, he could turn out to be a bit of a steal given his potential and draft position.

The Kings begin preseason play on Dec. 11 vs. the Portland Trail Blazers.
