Tennessee softball player Kiki Milloy was awarded the Torchbearer award.
The Torchbearer is the highest student honor awarded by the University of Tennessee.
Torchbearers are seniors who served their alma mater with overall excellence and awarded for academic achievement and outstanding commitment to others as demonstrated by the student’s various activities and significant contributions to the university and the community.
“There are not enough words to express how proud we are of Kiki being named a torchbearer, and becoming the first softball student-athlete to receive the most prestigious honor awarded to a Tennessee student,” Lady Vols’ softball head coach Karen Weekly said in a press release. “Since the day she arrived in Knoxville, she has been a leader on our campus, in the community and for our softball program. She leads with character, compassion and integrity.
“This is the ultimate recognition of Kiki’s commitment to excellence in all that she does. We are so happy for her and her family and proudly celebrate with her.”
The Torchbearer was first awarded in 1931. Milloy is the 29th student-athlete to receive the honor and the first softball player awarded the Torchbearer.
