In the world of multiple conference TV contracts, network schedule tinkering and six-day selection windows, kickoff times can be announced late. Or in the case of the Texas Longhorns vs. Mississippi State, the week of.
The Longhorns and the SEC have announced the kickoff time for the game vs. the Bulldogs as 4:15 p.m. ET/3:15 p.m. CT. This will be Texas’ first ever game in the SEC.
Hail State is off to a rough start under first-year head coach Jeff Lebby. The Bulldogs are 1-3, with their only win coming off a 56-7 win over Eastern Kentucky to start the season. Since then, Mississippi St. is 0-3 with a 30-23 loss to Arizona State, a stunning 41-17 loss to Toledo and a 45-28 loss to Florida.
The Bulldogs also lost their starting quarterback Blake Shapen for the season against the Gators with a shoulder injury.
The SEC opener will be the fifth time Texas and Mississippi State have met. The teams are 2-2. The last matchup came in 1992 when No. 21 ranked Hail State ran over the John Mackovic coached Longhorns 28-10. The Bulldogs ran for 242 yards in that game.
