With the NBA on hiatus due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, quite a few of the league’s old storylines have come up — one being Kevin Durant’s relationship with a former teammate: Draymond Green.
The Golden State Warriors forward recently brought up how Durant’s contract situation in 2018-19 was “the elephant in the room” for the team.
“The question came to us every day. Every time we spoke to the media, Klay [Thompson] and myself was asked about our contract, and it was strictly due to Kevin. Because while that was going on, Klay was saying, ‘I want to be a Warrior forever. Like, I want to be here we started this thing. This is where I want to be.’ I’m saying, ‘I want to be here for my career, we started this, we built this — I want to finish my career here with the guys I started it with.’ And then you kinda had Kevin, like, ‘I don’t know what I’m gonna do next year,’ and it don’t matter, but it does matter because you’re not the only person that has to answer that question.”
While Green’s comments made it seem like he had issues with Durant, the Brooklyn Nets forward told Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio all is well between the two:
Man, we good, man. … We good, man. … We’re making too much money for us to even entertain any of that.
KD tells Lil Wayne that he and Draymond are good. 👀👌
