Kevin Durant stats: Durant continues to play well on Christmas

Kevin Durant is one of the best scorers on Christmas Day in the history of the NBA.

Kyrie Irving may have set the Nets’ franchise record for most points scored in a Christmas Day matchup with 37 against the Boston Celtics in Brooklyn’s 123-95 win on Friday, but Kevin Durant wasn’t far behind the point guard in the scoring department.

Durant finished with 29 points against Irving’s old team, going 9-for-16 from the field (3-for-4 from beyond the arc). Eight of Durant’s points came on nine opportunities at the free-throw line.

With his 29 points, Durant has now scored 299 points on Christmas Day throughout his NBA career. He’s now fifth all-time in total points scored on Christmas Day, surpassing Shaquille O’Neal (272 points) with his first three points in the win. Durant now only trails Dwyane Wade (314), LeBron James (361 entering the Los Angeles Lakers’ game vs. the Dallas Mavericks on Friday), Oscar Robertson (377) and Kobe Bryant (395).

Brooklyn’s star forward also had four rebounds, three assists and two steals in his 33 minutes of action.
