Kevin Durant reveals why he made a mid-game shoe change vs. Heat

Kevin Durant had to make an adjustment in the middle of the Brooklyn Nets’ win over the Miami Heat on Monday.

While they aren’t exactly everyday occurrences, mid-game wardrobe changes are far from a new thing for sports fans. But because they happen so infrequently, it’s always wonder why the alteration was made. An act of frustration? Bad mojo? A food stain?

In Monday’s win over the Miami Heat, Kevin Durant caught everyone’s attention with his halftime shoe change. Brooklyn’s forward explained what went into the move on a Zoom call with reporters following the 98-85 finish.

“I stubbed my toe in the first half and I was thinking that it’d help if I switch shoes in the second half,” Durant said. “That’s just my theory. I don’t know if it works or not — I felt better in the second half shooting the basketball.”

After going 2-for-11 from the floor and 0-for-5 from deep in the first half on Monday, Durant went 4-for-10 overall and drained 3 of is 7 3-point attempts in the second half.

Suffice it to say, Durant shouldn’t wear the shoes he wore for Monday’s tipoff again.
