Kevin Byard notes one big difference between Eagles and Titans.

As the Philadelphia Eagles experience no shortage of turmoil during what has been a rough stretch run of the season, safety Kevin Byard has noticed one big difference between playing for his current team and his former one, the Tennessee Titans.

Byard recently spoke with EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer and noted how it’s harder to keep team issues in-house in Philadelphia, as opposed to Tennessee.

“I think playing for this city, you have to really operate in a different way,” he said. “For example, I come from Tennessee, which is obviously a smaller market, I feel like it was very easy to keep in-house things in-house.

“It’s very different over here. I feel like there’s leaks everywhere … it can be very divisive in a way. It can kind of force players or whoever it may be to almost protect yourself.”

It’s true that the Titans have done a good job at keeping things in-house, with part of the reason being that Mike Vrabel is one of the most guarded head coaches in the NFL, and that has bled through into the culture he’s built.

The bigger reason is Tennessee has a far smaller media presence than Philly.

Former Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown told Byard upon his arrival in Philly, “You’re a winner now. Things are done different here.”

The second part of that quote is also true about leaks, apparently.
